How many women are killed every day in the world?
According to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and UN Women, in 2023 about 51,100 women and girls were intentionally killed by an intimate partner or a family member. About 140 a day: one every 10 minutes.
For a woman, the most dangerous place is often her own home. And the number is an underestimate: in many countries these killings are not recorded as such.
Those who kill are not beasts: the beast is innocent, it follows instinct. They are human beings who had the choice and did not use it.
